All of us who write professionally about sports at one point or another come up with a list. It could be the ten best athletes of all time. It could also be the ten best teams, best games, biggest upsets, etc. The bottom line is that it is a list of really important people and events in sports history, the kind of things that you would never forget if you witnessed them.
So naturally, I have decided to come up with my ten best list. My list, however, will be the ten biggest sports moments. These are moments that take just a few seconds but will always be remembered through the generations. To make it on to my list, several criteria have to be met:
1) The moment must be the key moment in a game or competition. You could hit a hole in one on a Saturday afternoon with your pals, but who cares? The moment has to occur when the world is watching and has to be the key moment that turns a competition.
2) The game must be an important one. A Hail Mary pass during pre-season just doesn't cut it.
3) I have to have witnessed the event. Yes, I know this makes the list entirely subjective, but on the other hand, it's my list. So those are the criteria. You are free to disagree with my views and let me know what I should not have included and what I should have. Of course, don't be offended if I don't take your advice, after all, it's my blog! So without further adieu, here is the list. The only order to the list is it is written in the order I remember things. So don't read too much into who is #1 and who is #10.
